ADADHD is an experimental and subjective portrayal of ADHD and other underlying difficulties, in the form of a two-part book. The book presents mental health disorders and cognitive impairments visually, in a way that is both intuitive and educational. It doesn't only focus on the target audience, but is created from the target audience’s own perspective – for the designer herself has ADHD.

The book is constructed with colors, tactile elements, pictures, theory, design elements, personal stories and theory from both psychology and design. Part 1 consists of theory, facts, insight, autoethnography and results from focus groups, and guides the reader/viewer towards the visual presentation in Part 2.
ADHD is not a mental illness, but a neurodevelopmental disorder. Nevertheless, people with ADHD are often associated with several mental illnesses as a consequence of general difficulties and challenges surrounding the diagnosis.
To live with ADHD and mental illness is generally difficult, but sometimes just being understood when everything is chaotic, is itself challenging enough.
With this book, such people can recognize feelings that are difficult to express.
It can also help relatives and outsiders better understand the positive, negative and challenging sides of the diagnosis, and thus give them better insight.
There is a clear lack of books like ADADHD. When you have a physical disability or mental disorder you often try to acquire tools that can help you function as «normal» in a society you regularly might feel like an outsider in. The books in the self-help section are all similar – they can be extremely difficult to read, very theoretical and difficult to understand. I scoured the market for self-help books and books on relevant theories, science and creative concepts/techniques.
I’ve received a lot of positive feedback from people who could relate to the book’s portrayal and have benefited greatly from it. (Examples will be added here at a later date.)
ADADHD shows how to use design principles, typography, music and other creative expressions to visualize how life is experienced for many with ADHD.
